Someone asked recently, "What do you wear to mini sessions?" On mini session days, comfort is key. As a woman, I prefer to wear stretchy pants for ease of movement. Why pants and not shorts? Because I am allergic to grass and I also want to avoid being bitten by ants (which has happened!).
I don't wear just any stretchy pants either. There is a certain kind of material (when I figure out what it is, I will update this post) that does not let things stick to it. I used to work for a company photographing preschool children on playgrounds and I always regretted wearing certain yoga pants that mulch stuck to! It was impossible to remove mulch from these pants, even after washing, and it was so embarrassing to walk around with it all over my butt. All this to say, choose a smooth material that wicks away nature.
Speaking of wicking, I know that I am going to sweat a lot during my mini sessions. I usually wear a black or white shirt for this reason. White is a great choice because it won't show your sweat as much and acts as a reflector! Black is great for hiding sweat as well.
If able, I definitely recommend investing in a branded shirt. Branded shirts help clients find you if you're in a public area and they're also marketing tools! I've had strangers come up to me during sessions and ask for my card (which I never have on me) and it gets awkward for me between the client in front of me and the person inquiring. If I'm wearing a branded shirt, they can just contact me later.
I mention one other thing that keeps me cool during the summer in my free Mini Session Packing Checklist. Have you grabbed it yet?
